Chagala was established in 1994 and opened its first hotel, in Atyrau (western Kazakhstan), in 1995.

Since then, the company has grown significantly and now boasts not only hotels but long-stay serviced apartments, high quality office spaces, leisure facilities, a number of restaurants and bars as well as camp facilities catering to remote locations where the oil and gas industry is active.

In 2007, Chagala became a publicly traded company when it was accepted for trading on the London Stock Exchange. Since then, Chagala has experienced even greater growth with more expansion plans currently under review.
